So, I’m officially a postgrad student at Aberystwyth university. I spent all day being inducted; not as painful as it sounds. I don’t think I’ll be taking advantage of the GradSoc though. It seems to be more useful for folks who are living on campus, far from home, who don’t know the area. While I’ve lived here for 13 years and have a husband, two cats, and five hens to worry about. I do seem to be the only member of the class who is doing this course over two years. Which is nice, as in the third term I can rest on my laurels, while everyone else is getting grey-faced and think from working on their dissertations. My time will come however!
My first post. Well, it did seem like a good idea at a time. I applied to Aberystwyth university to do an MA in creative writing. And wouldn’t you know, they called my bluff and accepted me! Me? Heh. Up until now I had been a member of a weekly creative writing class in the Arts Centre, but I decided it was time I did something more serious. I’d wanted to do it a while back and I thought it’s now or never. I’m 58 now, when I’ve finished and got the MA in my little hand, I’ll be 60. Seems like an auspicious time.
So, this. I have a shed-load (technical term) of reading to get through. Not to mention essays, stories, projects, and work on a final dissertation of oh, a mere 20,000 words or so. And of course I had to do a blog as well. (facepalm) I have to do a writing journal for one module, so I decided to make it into a blog as well, and blog for all seven modules.
I’m doing the MA over two years, so not too much pressure I hope. this little blog will document the work I have to do, and have done. I hope it will be of some interest, besides a record for myself. So, onwards!
